DESCRIPTION
To start with a spoiler: the focus will be made on elaborating the notion of interculturality as a similarity and uniformity of all the cultures on the basic core level of humanistic values, moral principles and ideas through the exploration of 3 main “cultural products”, in which the culture is being reflected and objectified – rituals/ceremonies, folklore (fairy-tales) and games from our childhood.
We were carrying out the idea of this YE for a pretty long period of time, meanwhile investigating and exploring different cultures during our youth and social work in the frames of Erasmus+.
Can we reflect upon our culture? Can we understand the deep core values, principles and ideas, on which our culture is based? Is it possible to go deep, understand, feel and experience the other cultures? Is it possible to compare my culture with one’s own culture and to find the basic similarities,on which both cultures are based? And if the answer is yes, how can we do it, which methods or tools should we use, what are the products of the culture, in which it is being reflected and objectified?
We strongly believe, that the culture is being reflected and objectified in at least 3 main “cultural products”, which are rituals/ceremonies, folklore (fairy-tales) and games from our childhood.
To reach this aim, we’ll gather together youth from 10 countries with absolutely different historical
and cultural background (to enrich the cultural diversity, we’ll invite to participate both Program and
Partner countries). Within the YE we’ll deeply explore 3 main “cultural products”: rituals/ceremonies,
folklore (fairy-tales) and games from our childhood. Starting in the mixed cultural groups with the
differences and diversities of rituals/ceremonies, folklore (fairy-tales) and games from the childhood,
we’ll step by step lead the participants to the deep reflections and in the end understanding, feeling
and experiencing the similarities of all the cultures and to the development of the idea of
interculturality as a uniformity of all the cultures on the basic core level of humanistic values, moral
principles and ideas.
OBJECTIVES
► To explore the roots, patterns and core concepts of each culture and their influence on personality and identity;
► To provide methods for using ceremonies/rituals, folklore, and games as tools to address the cultural differences , similarities and origins;
► To raise self, cultural and ethnic awareness through non-formal educational methods and peer education, as well as to reinforce understanding and interest in other cultures through intercultural learning;
► To promote positive and respectful attitudes toward various cultures, people and their specialty;
► To reflect on the differences that has occurred to the cultures, norms and values over the past years;
► To promote human and European values, to share cultural values and to promote a deeper understanding of other cultures;
► To elaborate the notion interculturality as a similarity and uniformity of all the cultures on the basic core level of humanistic values, moral principles and ideas.
