DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT:

This project connects international long-term volunteers and their hosting organizations in Lithuanian cities (Vilnius and Trakai). While coordinating international volunteering projects “Europos savanoriu tarnybos asociacija Saltes”, as the organization, has established good and long-lasting relationships with hosting organizations in Lithuania, that wants to continue their work with international volunteers, keep on hosting new ones. We see the value in this project, because both hosting organizations and volunteers will have the possibility to enhance their skills in an informal way, gain new skills, learn to collaborate better, to be more tolerant, to be responsible citizens, share experiences and enhance intercultural competencies.

  1. SOS Children’s Village- Aug 2023 – Aug 2024

    SOS Family Strengthening Program supports disadvantaged families at risk of separation by bolstering their capacity to protect and care for their children. SOS Children’s Village hopes to help families to learn look after themselves so that they can live independently in the long-term. Only in this way can we ensure that children are not left and that they grow up in their families. 25 children on average have an opportunity to visit our Day Care Centre every working day. Here they can do homework, play, interact, participate in group activities and attend cooking lessons. If it is necessary, children is also provided with psychological consultations and emotional expression strategy is applied.
  2. Primary school “Patirčių slėnis”- Sept 2023 – Sept 2024

    Primary school is looking for a long-term (12 months) volunteer. School provides primary education for children in the city of Trakai from 7 to 11 years old kids. The foreseen activities for the volunteer are the folowing: helping with everyday life and routine in school – participation in educational processes, hiking trips, excursions, etc. Our school values the possibility to personally know and cocreate with a person from the other country as well as the possibility to indirectly know another cultureandcountrywithitssimilaritiesanddifferences.Thepossibility to practicallypractice English and other languages is also veryvaluable. The volunteer could share personal talents and hobbies like playing musical instruments, drawing or playing chess. It is important that the volunteer has qualities of openness, the ability to organize activities, cooperate and work independently.
  3. Kindergarten “Patirčių slėnis”- Sept 2023 – Sept 2024Kindergarten “Patirciu slenis” is looking for a long-term (12 months) volunteer. Kindergarten was established in 2016, it provides pre-school education for children from 1 to 7 years old kids. Kindergarten offers daily activities for kids, as well as different events, actions, workshops. Volunteer will be helping kindergarten teachers to implement different activities for kids, organize events, workshops and etc. The kindergarten is based on outdoor Waldorf pedagogic that is why most of the activities are happening outdoors. The Volunteers will also have a space to implement his/her ow ideas, projects, activities. Kindergarten is based in Trakai.
  4. Kindergarten “Čiauškutis”- July 2023 – July 2024“Čiauškutis” is a day social care center that provides comprehensive assistance to 2 – 12-year-old children with disabilities. Our main tasks are: – Reduce the social exclusion of children with disabilities and their families. – To create suitable conditions for the correction of children’s mental and physical development, compensation, their preparation for learning in general education institutions, integration into society. – To encourage mutual communication between children and parents raising a child with a disability – Increase the opportunities for parents to return or enter the labor market.
  5. Waldorf Open School-Sept 2023 – Sept 2024

    The Waldorf Open School is a non-governmental school created by parents and teachers and based on the Waldorf pedagogy. The school is part of a large community of Waldorf schools worldwide, which today has over a thousand schools. In Lithuania, the Waldorf School is governed by the concept of non-traditional education and the Waldorf concept of pedagogy. The main goal of the school is to develop creative, open-minded and self-confident personalities. At school, subjects are taught through programs developed by teachers using the programs and experiences of Waldorf schools in other countries, taking into account our country’s cultural environment, pedagogical traditions, Lithuanian general education programs and education standards. The mission of the school is to create a space where children and young people reveal their natural powers, develop their abilities/skills, and prepare to be able to achieve their own goals in life.
  6. Open Youth Center- Sept 2023 – Sept 2024

    Antakalnis open youth center is an institution for young people (14 – 29 years old) to be, to create, to find themselves, to try new things. The main aim of the center is to create a safe place and conditions for young people to realize their ideas, understand others and themselves, to express their creativity. Youth center together with the youngsters organizes different activities: events, projects, workshops, etc. Tasks: volunteer will assist and lead informational events (about volunteering, youth politics, democracy processes and etc.), discussions, creative workshops, different projects about tolerance, democracy, self-improvement, also, dance, cooking lessons. Some of these activities take part periodically, some – just once. What is important – most of activities are initiated by young people who comes here, that’s why Antakalnis open youth center is always changing and everything depends on people who comes here.
