DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT:
Vilnius open youth center “Mes” is Lithuania’s largest open youth work center with 7 open youth spaces. Vaga is just one of them. The main aim of our organization is to get to know the youngsters and tend to their needs: organize workshops, help with homework or writing projects, organize summer camps, cook together, watch movies, play table tennis together, etc.
Vilnius open youth center “Mes” focuses on open youth work – maintaining a safe space for youngsters from different backgrounds to socialize and spend their time after school, work, or university. Open space means we are inclusive and open to various cultures, beliefs, religions, and musical tastes! If you can tolerate the unknown and feel safe outside your comfort zone, you are looking in the right place!
ROLE OF THE VOLUNTEER
We place our volunteers in the shoes of a youth worker, so your responsibilities would look something like this:
- Participating in open evenings (Monday to Friday 16:00-20:00);
- Interacting with our visitors (young people from 14 to 29 y.o.);
- Helping to organize movie nights, various tournaments, Attending On arrival and Midterm trainings; Helping execute summer camps;
- Initiating a personal project (your own initiative). sleepovers etc

- Enthusiastic: The volunteer is passionate about working with young people and dedicated to creating a positive impact in their lives.
- Approachable: They possess excellent interpersonal skills and can establish a friendly and welcoming environment for young visitors.
- Empathetic: The volunteer understands the challenges faced by young people and can offer support and guidance in a compassionate manner.
- Organized: They have strong organizational skills and can assist in planning and executing various activities, such as movie nights, tournaments, and summer camps.
- Proactive: The volunteer takes initiative and can propose and develop their own projects or activities that align with the organization’s goals and benefit the youth.
- Reliable: They are committed to fulfilling their responsibilities and can be relied upon to show up on time and complete tasks efficiently.
- Adaptable: The volunteer is flexible and adaptable to different situations, as they may need to respond to the diverse needs and preferences of young visitors.
