My Adventure with EVS started in 2021 when I saw the post on Facebook to Go to Portugal. I thought why not))). I spent there 4 months this was the best time of my life. EVS is not only about work! it gives you many other chances, like participating in pieces of training, meeting new people or learning the language you are in. It’s a very unique opportunity, to not only gain work experience but life experience as well. You find yourself in a different country, with different people and traditions. There is no better way to get to know yourself better and grow as a person. So if you got a chance to take part in EVS, do not hesitate, you will not regret it. Living with different nations people learning from each other, cultural sharing, traveling together what else can I tell, it was the life that I was always dreaming of. After Covid, I became a little bit selfish and didn’t like to communicate with people and after this seeing more people it’s not easy. But I just overcome all the difficulties and EVS just brought me to the life I had been before
I went there to change something in my life, but actually, I became the cheerful and life-loving girl I used to be. Before going there, I assumed that only people in our country were kind and caring, but I’ve learned that it doesn’t matter what nationality you are. We’re all human beings, and we’re all exactly the same. We all want the same thing, we all want to be successful. When COVID started, I started to work remotely. It was hard for me without meeting people, but I used to be like
this, and I became a little bit selfish because you are living in your comfort zone and you don’t need or want to get out of it.
Portugal changed my life. Living alone for so long, I started to appreciate every little thing in my life. I started being thankful for everything, rather than demanding it from life.
Our host company was incredible and made our stay comfortable and inviting. Mariana’s mom prepared the most amazing meals and was always very attentive. Daniela, Katya, and Lucia always worked 24/7 for us, even though they knew that, like the next day, we had a trip, they took our breakfast with us. Those are little things that make you feel that you are at home. The opportunity to meet such amazing people and make lifelong friends was one of the program’s highlights. As a solo traveler, you really do learn who you really are and how to interact and understand people. I felt that the program took us away from the tourist environment, and we behaved more like locals and were able to explore local life. We learned so much!
One of the adventures that took place there, we wanted a trip together to the Azores, San Miguel, and Iceland. , we were standing on the top of the ocean and suddenly my sunglasses fell down. There was no way to bring them back, but Mariana our coordinator, was so brave and she raised them from there. It was unbelievable how she did it.
My volunteer journey was an amazing experience that will remain in my memory forever – thanks to all the people who accompanied me and were there. ”
Any description I try to give you of this experience is immeasurable. I’ve heard a lot of stories, I’ve learned from children things that are so small and even high. Not to mention the coordination team of the project that treated us with great affection! I returned home full of little letters and with so much nostalgia!
