The volunteer who joins our association will support a variety of activities focused on inclusion, awareness, education, and empowerment of people with physical and organic disabilities. The tasks will combine both administrative and programmatic work, as well as direct interaction with users and students.
General Tasks – The volunteer will contribute to the following general areas:
· Administrative support at the office.
· Organization and logistics of training days, seminars, and workshops.
· Participation in quality improvement actions related to care for people with physical disabilities.
· Collaboration in awareness campaigns and talks in primary and secondary schools, as well as in universities.
· Promotion of volunteering and support in related events and campaigns.
· Participation in informal training sessions, meetings, and workshops.
· Assistance in leisure and recreational activities.
· Support in basic computer literacy courses.
Specific Tasks: Vocational Training for Students with Special Needs associated with personal conditions of disability (Aged 15–24). The volunteer will mainly support students enrolled in vocational training programmes. These tasks may include:
· Accompanying students during break times for those who choose to leave the school premises.
· Assisting teachers during off-site activities, such as field trips or visits to training centres or outings that include an overnight stay away.
· Assisting teachers with students with autism.
· Supporting practical workshops (e.g. handicrafts for fine motor skill development).
· Assisting with daily classes in subjects such as mathematics, language, English, and ICT.
· Supervising students during short teacher absences.
· Helping teachers create didactic materials and prepare daily activities.
· Accompanying students to public transport when necessary.
· Liaising with external professionals (e.g. ONCE visual support staff working with visually impaired students, in coordination with teaching staff).
· Supporting students with severe physical disabilities who may need assistance in the bathroom or with eating.
· Office-related tasks: preparing presentations, designing materials, and supporting social media communication.
· Supporting students in the centers or companies where they carry out their training internships.
Occasional/Additional Involvement: Depending on the volunteer’s profile and the needs of the association, they may also participate in the following activities:
Support at the Head Office:
· Campaigns to raise awareness about the rights of people with physical and organic disabilities.
· Dissemination and outreach actions.
· Awareness activities on inclusion and accessibility.
· Volunteer engagement and recruitment campaigns.
Support at the Day Centre:
· Assisting professionals during workshops with users of the day centre.
· Supporting users during leisure and recreational activities.
· Proposing and implementing activities aimed at fostering inclusion.
· Participating in family respite activities.
· Helping users with daily living activities.
· Taking part in training and awareness-raising events related to disability.
Involvement in European Solidarity Corps Outreach. The volunteer will also play an active role in promoting European values and opportunities, through:
· Promotion of European projects and mobility programmes among young people in the Region of Murcia and within the association’s network.
· Participation in workshops and presentations about the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) programme in youth organizations, secondary schools, and at the University of Murcia.
Creation of monthly content to share updates about their work, contributing to the visibility and dissemination of project results.
Our volunteering project seeks to promote the values promoted by the EU and the ESC Programme, such as solidarity, equality, justice, respect, the fight against exclusion and xenophobia, etc.

More Information About the Volunteer’s Life
Practical arrangements: The schedule of the volunteer activities will be between 30 and 38 hours per week. The volunteer will work max. 38 hours on 5 days per week.
Holidays: According to the rules of ESC, volunteers must have 2 working days off per month.
Accommodation: The volunteers will live in a room in a shared flat located in the city of Murcia together with other volunteers. The room and the flat will be fully equipped, and electricity, water, gas and internet will be covered by the lead organization (till the amount of 30€ per volunteer).
Pocket money: The volunteer will receive the monthly rate foreseen by the Spanish NA, 186€ per month.
Food: The volunteer will receive 184€ for food every month.
Local transport: Every volunteer will have a chance to choose a bike or bus card provided by the hosting organization if it is needed.
Language support: The volunteer is entitled to receive language support with an online platform, as stated on the ESC programme guide.
Medical insurance: The volunteer will be covered by a private insurance that will cover all the expenses not covered by the public health system (health, accident and civil liability insurance).
Travel costs: The volunteer will receive financial support for travel from his/her country to Spain and from Spain to his/her country once the project is completed, up to a maximum amount established by the European Commission according to the distance band.
Visa and residence permit fees: The volunteer will receive financial support for visa arrangements (if required).
Deposit: The volunteer will have to make a 370 euro deposit that will be reimbursed once the project is ended and the volunteer leaves tidy, clean, and with no damage in the private room and common areas, and if the volunteer doesn’t leave the project without a justified reason before it ends.
Volunteer Profile
This project is aimed at young people between 18 and 30 years old who have not participated in any European volunteering project (EVS or ESC) before. We will give priority to the selection of young people with fewer opportunities.
The selection will be made based on the attitude, the willingness to participate, the motivation and the commitment to the values of the project rather than knowledge and skills of the candidates .
We value the responsibility, the spirit of initiative, the patience and the ability to step back from interpersonal conflicts in order to deal with them more effectively, and the enthusiasm and willingness to participate in the different activities offered.
No young person willing to participate in our project will be excluded for any reason (economic difficulties; social or geographical obstacles; cultural or ideological differences; sexual orientation, age, ethnicity, gender and gender identity, etc.).
About Famdif / Cocemfe
The Federation of Associations of People with Physical and / or Organic Disabilities of the Region of Murcia (FAMDIF / COCEMFE-MURCIA) was born in 1982 in response to inquiries from the non-profit associations that comprise it, as a means of joining forces to achieve their common objectives: the social integration of the physically and / or organically disabled people and their normalized active participation in social problems and especially those that are more directly related to the problem, such as architectural and social barriers, access to culture, work, sports, health, etc.
FAMDIF / COCEMFE-MURCIA is a non-governmental, social and non-profit organization that aims to serve as a channel for consultations of Associations of People with Physical and / or Organic Disabilities in the Region of Murcia. It has an exclusively vindictive character as well as a service provider to the extent that the Administration does not generate them.
Basing its work fundamentally on the detection and resolution of the situations, the aim of the project is to study the causes of social exclusion in which disabled people suffer, to obtain the material and human resources that can reduce them and, ultimately, to allow them to live an autonomous existence in accordance with the principles of Accessibility, Integration and Normalization as soon as possible.
FAMDIF / COCEMFE-MURCIA is currently composed of 17 associations.
Our MISSION is to represent, support and advise all federated Associations of people with physical and organic disabilities in the Region of Murcia, while, with the help of the rest of the citizens, developing services and activities aimed at their member organizations and people with physical and organic disabilities with the aim of achieving the real equality of people with physical and organic disabilities, ensuring that it is respected the principle of equality before the Law and the defense of their rights in all limits of life.
The VISION of FAMDIF / COCEMFE is to be a reference within the associative movement of people with disabilities, transparent in its management, strengthen its representative and vindictive character and provider of quality services, with the ability to adapt to respond to the needs of its interest groups and thus fulfill its mission.
