Arriving in Latvia, I was greeted by snow-covered landscapes and a quiet, close-knit community. Working at the center for disabled people quickly became an experience of deep connection and growth. In the beginning, the language barrier felt challenging, but smiles and gestures spoke volumes. Over time, I joined the residents in daily activities—from arts and crafts to outdoor walks and music sessions. Spring brought us outside, where we planted flowers, and summer was filled with joyful celebrations and local traditions. After some time, I had learned some basic Latvian to understand their needs and even sing along during gatherings. Leaving was difficult, but I left with treasured memories of the warmth and resilience shared by everyone I had met.
