The project will take place in Sofia. There will be a trip to Lesnovo a village close to the capital

Dates: 20.03.2017-27.03.2017. 2 more days are foreseen for travelling.

The main objective of the project “Youth workers – the engine of social change in marginalized communities” (YES Project)  is deepening the key competencies and skills of youth workers from various organizations from countries both in and outside  the EU, who are working with young people from minority groups and disadvantaged youth people, which will stimulate a sense of solidarity, intercultural dialogue and reducing social exclusion.

In addition, the project aims at strengthening  international cooperation between EU countries, programme and partner countries, which contribute to the choice of the partners – namely Greece, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Slovakia, Romania, Lithuania, Georgia, Armenia, Italy, France and Bulgaria.

Among the mandatory criteria for selection of participants, is:

  • each of the youth worker to show personal interest in working with young people from minority or marginalized groups and disadvantaged people.
  • Another two mandatory criteria are the level of personal motivation and the willingness and ability of the applicants to disseminate the project results after completion of the mobility. Special attention will be paid to participants who are part of a disadvantaged group and have a strong desire and motivation to change attitudes of society through their work to provide new opportunities to their friends, acquaintances, family members of the local community by becoming mediators, trainers, leaders and role models for young people in the region.

The youth workers who will be trained during the project are 48.

The project will contribute to the improvement and expansion of knowledge and skills of participants and will increase the motivation of participants to work with representatives of disadvantaged groups and to use the opportunities to actively upgrade the knowledge and skills of lifelong learning programs. The participants will receive a new vison of the possibilities and potential of possible actions, projects and programs for inclusion of youth representatives of marginalized groups and improving their well-being and social and labor development.

The project aims at improving the knowledge and skills of youth workers, using informal methods of training. Participants will be actively involved in the phases of preparation, implementation and evaluation of the project. During the project, through participation in presentations, workshops, role plays, practical exercises, outdoor activities and  study visits, participants will exchange experience and will acquire knowledge and skills how to communicate with disadvantaged people.

Moreover, participants will acquire new knowledge about the process of planning and implementing projects, formulating actions missions, vision, values and needs, goals and objectives, planning and goal setting, which will be of great benefit for them in their future projects realization.
