When Sona thinks about her volunteering experience in Romania, she remembers laughter, sunshine, and the joyful chaos of children running everywhere. As part of her project, she organ

ized and led summer camps for kids and teenagers — an experience she describes as one of the most rewarding chapters of her life.

At first, it was challenging to adapt to a new country and a new rhythm. But soon, everything began to fall into place. Sona spent her days planning games, leading activities, and creating unforgettable moments for children from different backgrounds. Each camp brought new faces, challenges, and beautiful memories — from singing until they lost their voices to sharing endless laughter together.

Of course, not every day was easy. Some days were unpredictable and exhausting, yet those were the moments that taught her resilience, patience, and adaptability.

What truly made the experience special for Sona was the sense of community — the dedicated team that became like family and the welcoming spirit of Romanian people. Surrounded by mountains, traditions, and warmth, she found herself growing not only as a volunteer but also as a person.

“I came to Romania to volunteer,” she says, “but I left with so much more — confidence, perspective, and friendships that will last a lifetime.”
